Our client knew exactly what she didn't want: safe, neutral, forgettable. She wanted colour, and she wanted to commit to it. That conviction gave us the millwork in the dining room—the anchor of the whole project—and the excuse to go hunting for the exact right cobalt blue, teal, and coral. Getting those three to sit together and actually sing took time, but it's the kind of decision that makes or breaks a room like this.

The client was clear on one more thing: horizontal lines, running continuously through the millwork and carrying straight over into the dining room, so the whole space reads as one uninterrupted gesture rather than a series of separate rooms. To keep all that horizontal momentum from feeling too rigid, we played it against circles—globe pendant lighting that nods to the round globe lamps lining the front yards of homes throughout this mid-century neighbourhood, and a set of custom doors whose shapes echo that same circular language. Bold color, natural textures, straight lines and round ones—every decision was in conversation with another.
