Making Waves
This Jack and Jill bathroom—shared by two small humans—was an opportunity to create something playful, immersive, and full of personality.

From day one, we knew it had to be whimsical and vibrant, graphic, and a little offbeat. Wallpaper was non-negotiable, but nothing we found felt quite right. So we drew this ourselves and had it printed. These tiny swimmers—playful with a hint of nostalgia—set the tone for everything that followed: a butter-yellow vanity that feels sunny but grounded, and rusty-red wainscoting that wraps the room in warmth and just enough edge. Bold, but controlled. Sweet, but not too sweet.
We layered in Calacatta Viola flooring and detailed wainscoting trim for texture and depth—the veining brings movement, and the trim adds structure. It’s that push and pull we’re always chasing: graphic and soft, playful and composed. Even the smaller moments—hardware, lighting, and paint transitions—were considered as part of that balance, each element reinforcing the overall rhythm of the room without overwhelming it.

The layout leans into symmetry, giving the space a sense of order that grounds the more expressive choices. Sightlines were kept clean and intentional, allowing the pattern, color, and materiality to take center stage while still feeling cohesive and easy to live with day to day.
The result? A kids’ bathroom that feels cinematic and a little unexpected. We like to think it would sit comfortably in a Wes Anderson frame—color-forward, slightly irreverent, and full of character, with just enough structure to keep it feeling timeless.
